Panelists will discuss their suggested best trees for the following needs, and explain their choices for:

Micah Lipscomb, Landscape Architect and Arborist

Micah will talk about considerations when planting trees. What size will your tree be in the future regarding trunk size, root flair, height, and canopy cover? Are you planting for example, near buildings or in grass strips? Are you in a retail setting with signage?

11:05 - 11:45 a.m. Planting with Purpose on Private Property: What is the current research on how community residents decide to plant trees in their yards through free tree distributions? Invited: Meg Morgan of Root Nashville and Paul D. Ries of Oregon State University have collaborated on research and a paper, “Planting free trees on private property: understanding urban residents’ motivations and hesitations.” Meg will report their findings to us. (Remote Presentation)

11:45 - noon Q & A with speakers
