2025 3rd Quarter Program

Trees add value to communities! Join GTC for our virtual 3rd Quarter Program on August 6th from 9am - 12pm to learn strategies any size municipality can use to grow, maintain, and protect community trees.
Whether your community has no tree program, or you are ready to take it to the next level, this overview of community forestry management and available resources has something for everyone. Speakers from around the state will discuss topics including:
- Fundamentals of a Community Forestry Program: Essential components and development strategies
- How To Be a Tree Steward for Your Community: City leadership does not always understand the value of community trees. Learn talking points to have those discussions
- Tree Board & Tree City USA: The gateways to a successful tree program that can have a meaningful impact for your community forest
- Tree Ordinances: Never a one-size-fits-all, this overview will provide the purpose, components, application, and resources for ordinance development
- Tree Inventories: From DIY to contracted services, learn how to make an inventory work for your community
- Contract vs Staff Arborist: Which option is more appropriate for your community?
Scholarships are available for:
1. Attendees from Georgia communities with a population of less than 5,000 or
2. Attendees from Georgia communities located in qualified areas. To determine if your community is in a qualified area, please review this website link in the "Related Links" section below. Select the drop-down arrow in the upper right corner of the map to access the search tool. Communities located in the blue areas of the map qualify for scholarships.
