Paul Ries, Ph.D, Director and Senior Instructor, Graduate Certificate in Urban Forestry, Oregon State University
Dr. Paul Ries has worked as a practitioner and educator in natural resources, urban forestry, arboriculture, and wildland fire management at the state, local, International, non-profit, and academic levels for over 35 years. He currently teaches and directs the online Graduate Certificate in Urban Forestry at Oregon State University and provides consulting, teaching, and facilitation services through Insightful Nature LLC. He holds BS and MS degrees in Natural Resources and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Paul is a Past-President of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 1988, and is an ISA Certified Urban Forest Professional. In addition to his passion for trees and urban forestry, he enjoys hiking, photography, kayaking, and keeping up with his grandchildren.
