Readiness, Response, and Recovery: Managing Trees with Storms in Mind: Georgia Tree Council's Second Quarterly Program DUBLIN GA

The topic for this program will be "Readiness, Response, and Recovery: Managing Trees with Storms in Mind," and the Georgia Forestry Commission will roll out its new resources with the Green Infrastructure Center regarding specific pruning activities, risk assessment, and tree inventorying to prepare community forests for storms. We'll also review debris staging, contracts, and risk assessment. A Georgia Emergency Management Agency representative will speak on things to keep in mind to get assistance and highlight available funding opportunities. Up to 4 scholarships each are available to Georgia cities to attend this program.

10:00 – 10:05 a.m. Welcome from Mary Lynne Beckley, Georgia Tree Council

10:05 – 11:00 a.m. New resources in partnership with the Green Infrastructure Center: risk assessment, debris staging, and contracts to prepare community forests for future storms

11:00 – 12 noon “Real World” Example: How preparing debris staging areas and contracts helped the City of Alexandria, Louisiana with a better storm response and recovery.

• Applying for Georgia ReLeaf funding and other available funding made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act – Joan Scales, Partnership Coordinator, Georgia Forestry Commission and Starting a Nonprofit to Aid Urban Forest Recovery - Scott Berta, Plant Newnan

CEUs: 3.25 ISA Certified Arborist, Municipal Arborist, and BCMA-Management. 3 SAF Registered Forester CFEs. Landscape Architects and others will receive a certificate of attendance for their CEU records.
