Empower community members to benefit from the urban forest by providing trees, planting materials, and education
Requirements
- Projects must relate to one or more of the Georgia ReLeaf program objectives.
- Distribute containerized (1 gallon to 15 gallon) trees to homeowners and residents.
- Collect zip codes, addresses or census tracts from recipients indicating locations where trees will be planted and input data into a provided Survey123 mapping tool.
- Distribute educational materials provided by GFC, such as the Tree Owner’s Manual, links to instructional planting videos like this one on Planting Containerized Trees, species fact sheets and other tree care information for homeowners and residents.
- Develop a plan for the distribution of any trees leftover after the initial event.
2024 Georgia ReLeaf, Savannah Tree Foundation tree giveaway project
Eligibility
Municipalities, government agencies, non-profits, and educational institutions may apply.
Other organizations, such as community tree volunteer groups, neighborhood associations or civic groups which do not hold 501(c)3 status are eligible, but must apply in partnership with a non-profit organization or with their local government.
All applicants must have both a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) and a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI). Information on obtaining a UEI can be found at SAM.gov
Projects using 100% of requested funding in tracts overburdened by climate change, pollution, or other environmental or socioeconomic factors as identified by the Climate and Economic Justice dataset will receive funding priority. These projects may apply for up to $15,000 in funding.
All other projects will require 1:1 matching funds, which may include in-kind contributions, volunteer assistance, and private and public (non-Federal) monetary contributions. These projects may requestion up to $7,500 in funding.
